Balance of online stores in the 2019/20 season

Our forecast for the 2019/20 season that the ski schools would create 40 million euros in online sales has come true. However, the result could have been even better by far if the Corona virus had not caused the season to end so abruptly. In the fall, we were over 30% better on average than in the same period of the previous year, December - January still 20% better, February stagnated and in March things went downhill. The diagrams illustrate the development.

What else can be said about the season? Tyrol took the lead in the comparison of absolute sales, Salzburg still leads in average booking volume, Switzerland is catching up strongly as a whole, and Germany and the remaining Austrian provinces have high growth rates, which is mainly due to individual innovative ski schools.

What is not taken into account in these figures are the many remittances that the ski schools have had to make. That hurts, of course. Some guests showed solidarity and kept their credit for next season, but the vast majority of cancelled courses were refunded.

Predicting further revenue growth next year seems bold, but is entirely possible. The Corona crisis is boosting the pace of digitalization. Sales via the company's own online store are definitely the most favorable of sales and the online store is gaining in importance as an indicator or early warning system of how the coming season will run on which weeks.
