Rethink ski school processes with PLAYMOBIL® pro

What do PLAYMOBIL® figures have to do with digitalisation? Quite a lot! In our two-day workshop with five ski school managers, we visualised, questioned and rethought key ski school processes - in a creative and effective way. You can read here why we were so enthusiastic about the method, what we learnt from it and what happens next.

Why We Held the Workshop

At Waldhart Software, we tried something new: On June 17 and 18, 2025, we hosted a PLAYMOBIL® pro workshop together with five ski school directors and the experts from PlayWork.pro. The goal: We wanted to make our ski school clients’ processes tangible for the entire Waldhart Software team. Because only by understanding how everyday life in ski schools works can we truly align our software solutions to meet their needs.

PLAYMOBIL® pro – What Is It and What Does It Offer?

PLAYMOBIL® pro is a professional modeling tool that combines elements of design thinking with the possibilities of playful visualization. Using play figures, symbols, and models, complex workflows can be represented, roles and relationships modeled, and processes viewed from new perspectives.

Key benefits at a glance:

  • Visualization of complex processes – tangible and easy to understand
  • Perspective shift – e.g., into the role of employee, customer, or manager
  • "Bird’s eye view" on structures and interfaces
  • Promotes dialogue, team understanding, and creative solutions

What We Achieved Together

In mixed groups of ski school directors and WS team members, we modeled and reflected on key processes from ski school operations. We focused on areas such as staff management, accounting, marketing, product and pricing design, and course organization. PLAYMOBIL® figures were used to recreate workflows, represent roles, and identify key points in the process. This resulted in not only tangible models but also many new ideas and approaches.

This creative approach to modeling helped us recognize challenges more clearly and work together on solutions. The enthusiasm – from both the ski school directors and our team – was unmistakable.

Thank You to Our Guests – You Were Amazing!

Special thanks go to our five guests, who not only enriched the workshop but also helped shape it significantly: Stefan Kern (Swiss Snow Sports School Andermatt), Gerold Santer (Follow me Ski & Snowboard School), Fabian Kikl (Ski School & Ski Rental Mösern/Seefeld), Moritz Leithner (Ski School Pertisau), and Peter Walchhofer (Ski School Walchhofer). With great dedication, openness, and a good dose of humor, they collaborated with our team and brought the method to life.

Our Insight: Processes Are a Team Effort

The workshop showed us that digitalization is about more than just technology. It requires understanding, dialogue, and perspective shifts. When software developers and ski school professionals explore processes together, the best solutions emerge – practical, usable, and effective.

What Remains – and What’s Next

The workshop clearly demonstrated the value that creative methods like PLAYMOBIL® pro can bring to process analysis and development – both in our internal product development and in direct collaboration with ski schools. Over these two days, we gained not only concrete ideas for further developing our software but also a deeper understanding of the daily challenges and workflows in ski schools. The method inspired us to question entrenched views, adopt new perspectives, and uncover real opportunities for improvement.

We are currently evaluating whether to integrate PLAYMOBIL® pro more directly into our consulting services – perhaps even on-site with you, to visualize, analyze, and improve workflows together. That’s what it’s all about for us: creating solutions that truly fit your practice.
