In the workshop "AI in Daily Use" as part of the WS Days 2024 in Arosa, the use of artificial intelligence in the daily routine of a ski school was put to the test. The marketing experts of the WS team presented ways of working with AI tools and gave helpful tips and tricks.
What types of AI tools are available?
The world of AI tools is diverse and constantly evolving. In the workshop, participants focused on AI tools for speech and text processing. These tools help you create, translate, and edit texts. Examples include:
- Translation tools: Programs like DeepL use AI to translate texts into various languages within seconds.
- Text creation tools: ChatGPT and similar tools can generate or complete texts based on instructions. Other tools like DeepL Write focus on editing and optimizing texts in a desired writing style or tone.
However, this is far from exhausting the full range of AI tools available. In addition, there are various tools for image and video processing, voice generation, music generation, and data analysis.
Successful experimentation with ChatGPT
As with working with any tool, practice makes perfect when it comes to AI tools! Therefore, workshop participants were invited to take out their smartphones and experiment with AI tools themselves.
Tips & Tricks for Text Creation
The first example task was: Generate a product description for a ski course for teenagers aged 13 and up using ChatGPT, aimed at encouraging potential customers to book the course online. The initial results were eagerly discussed and it became clear: Convincing product descriptions are often just a good prompt away.
Prompts are text inputs in the form of questions, commands, or statements that prompt models like ChatGPT to provide a corresponding response.
Here are our tips on how you can formulate the perfect prompt for product descriptions and other texts:
- Give clear and precise instructions: The clearer your instructions, the better ChatGPT can help you. Instead of "Create a description of a ski course for teenagers," your prompt could be: "Write an engaging description of a ski course for teenagers aged 13 and up, including course content and benefits."
- Take advantage of the ability to create multiple drafts: You can ask ChatGPT to revise the text, add more information, or change the style until you are satisfied with the result.
- Provide context and details: The more context and details you provide, the more relevant and helpful the response will be. For example, you could mention who the description is intended for (parents or perhaps the teenagers themselves?) or what tone you prefer (formal, informal, humorous, etc.).
- Review and adjust: Even though AI tools are very useful, it's important to review and adjust the generated text yourself. This ensures that the text meets your expectations and contains no misunderstandings.
Tips & Tricks for Creative Brainstorming
Participants also discovered that ChatGPT can be used not only for writing texts but also for creative brainstorming. In the second part of the experiment, the task was to come up with ideas for entertaining activities during an Easter special week in the children's area. Here too, participants refined their prompts and received the following tips:
- Give ChatGPT a situation or role in your prompt to make the responses more focused and relevant.
- Ask for multiple suggestions, such as generating 5 or 10 names/slogans, etc.: Multiple suggestions give you a broader selection and may inspire even better ideas.
- Don't give up right away: Sometimes it takes a few tries to find the perfect prompt. Be patient and keep experimenting: This suggestion isn't quite what I was looking for. Try again and focus more on the educational value of the activities.
Now is the best time to engage with AI tools!
AI tools are powerful resources that can help you in many areas of your digital daily life. By learning to use these tools effectively, you can increase your productivity and discover new creative possibilities. So, why not try them out and take advantage of AI technology?
In our workshop slides you will find the mentioned tasks and can test your prompt-writing skills yourself.
